When we started developing our first T-shirt, we really took it from the very beginning. From fabric, fit, colour, wash and every detail.
On the surface, fabrics all looked quite similar. But once we made them into actual T-shirts and put them through the washing process, the differences became much clearer. Some fabrics felt soft but could not hold their shape. Some were heavier, but also felt too stiff on the body. Others looked clean before washing, then changed more than we expected afterwards.
FABRIC SELECTION:
This is why I don’t believe a better T-shirt is simply the one with the highest GSM.
We eventually chose a substantial 280 GSM cotton fabric because it gave us the balance we were looking for. It has enough weight and structure, but still falls naturally when worn. The garment wash softens the fabric and creates the faded black finish, without making it look overly distressed or artificially aged.
COLLAR DETAIL:
The wash also became part of how we developed the fit. We reviewed the body length, sleeves, shoulder shape and neckline after washing—not only before it. We also added a reinforced double-needle neckline to give the collar more structure and help it keep its shape through repeated wear.
WASHING PROCESS:
There were several rounds of adjustments, and some details that looked right on paper did not work the same way once the T-shirt was made and washed.
The final result is not meant to feel overdesigned. It is a relaxed, everyday T-shirt that already feels familiar from the first wear—and one we hope will become even better with time.
